Community Service

New Friends Quilt Circle has a strong commitment to provide community service to young and old.

Each year we collect and donate handmade quilts. Some of the organizations that we donate to are: American Fork Fire and Police department, Quilts for Kids, nursing homes, pediatric units, women's shelter, school for people with disabilities and Festival of Trees. Each year we assess the needs of the community and make connections with service organizations.

These quilts are given out to community members in distress, either during accidents, domestic violence incidents or other circumstances during which a a quilt can offer comfort and warmth, free of charge.

Quilts are also donated to pediatric units of local hospitals and nursing homes.

During one of our special events each year, we present Quilts of Valor to men and women who have served in the armed services, or who are currently serving. This events usually takes place in November.

In 2023 New Friends Quilt Circle donated more than 110 quilts to community organizations, 12 Quilts of Valor in addition to 450 mug-rugs for Meals on Wheels.

In 2024 we were able to exceed 500 mug rugs, and received many positive responses from those who were blessed by a little extra attention during the holiday season. During the same year a commitment was made to provide quilts for the police and fire department, who distribute quilts to those in need when accidents happen, or when a family is in transition in our own community. Quilts were also donated to an adoption auction, Wrap the World in Quilts, an organization that supports families as the recover from the fires in California. In 2024 members of the quilt circle provided a combined amount of 2961 hours to the community.
Our Quilt of Valor part of our group was able to provide 10 quilts to local veterans, 3 of them young brothers who are currently servicing in a variety of law enforcement agencies.

During the 2024 American Fork City event "night against crime" together with the local police and fire department, we awarded quilts to 3 outstanding professionals who made a big difference in our community.

Since the beginning of 2025, we have donated more quilts to the emergency services in the community, as well as American Fork Hospital for the NICU. We will continue to work to provide many more mug rugs for the holiday season and plans are already made to honor veterans with our Quilt of Valor quilts in November. If you have suggestions for recipients, please connect with us as soon as possible.

We are grateful for the opportunities we have throughout the year to be of service in our community.

We invite all to join us in our efforts to bring comfort and warmth in our community, by either donating fabric, bringing in quilts, or just being kind to those who are going through hard times.
