Special Events
During the year New Friends Quilt Circle hosts a few events.
Quilters Night Out:
During Quilters Night Out you bring the fabric of your choice and New Friends Quilt Circle will provide a pattern that we all can make at the same time! It is such a fun event. We organize a potluck, we laugh, teach and sew for as many hours as possible. Stay as late as you can sew!
National Quilting Day:
Each year in March there is a national Quilting Day. We will meet as group and enjoy learning new skills, quilt together and work on new projects. If you would like to know what the specific plans are, please join us during one of our Tuesday meetings so you can be prepared.
Our 2024 National Day of Quilting was held on March 30th 10-2 pm. Participants brought 2 fat quarters to sew a cute spring project, shared a potluck and a a trunk-show by an experienced quilter was provided. It was open to the public, many brought their friends!
Night Against Crime:
Night against Crime is an American Fork City Event. New Friends Quilt Circles works with the Fire and EMT Department as well as the Police Department who nominate one of their team members to receive a special quilt made for them in recognition of their service. This event will be held Aug 8th, 2024. This year, we will honor 3 recipients.
Quilts of Valor Ceremony:
Each year we award quilts to members who have or currently are serving in the armed forces. During this ceremony we highlight and express appreciation for their services. Recipients are selected from our community each year by a committee. If you would know someone who may benefit from receiving a quilt of Valor, please submit their name no later than June of each year.
Quilters Christmas:
On the first Tuesday of December we meet for our annual Quilters Christmas during which we participate in a block exchange, quilting gift exchange and a wonderful meal.
This is our only meeting in December.
